Being a kid in Hawaii means t-shirts, shorts, and rubber slippers. It means getting the best shaved ice in the world, and exploring every nook and cranny the islands have to offer. It means thinking spam makes a pretty good dish. And, it means trips to the beach every single day. But all of that fun and adventure can be very distracting for a kid, and distraction can cause a domino effect when it comes to kids and cockroaches.
Cockroaches are the Houdini of the bug kingdom. The tiny claws at the end of their legs allow them to scale walls and traverse ceilings at alarming speeds. Though your walls may seem smooth to your hand, they actually contain countless tiny footholds a cockroach can use to cling to it. Cockroaches also have an impressive ability to run to the end of a table and move to the bottom of the table without skipping a beat. It isn't magic. It is a skill cockroaches learn to disorient predators. If you've ever seen a cockroach come out of an air conditioning unit, you've seen this ability.
