Sandwich Isle Pest Solutions is proud to announce the addition of Marisol Quintanilla, Ph.D. Entomologist to the SIPS family. We are so excited to have Marisol join our team as she is only one of two Board Certified Entomologists on the island of Oahu. She brings with her a wealth of education and experience in the identification and treatment of pests that are evasive here in Hawaii and beyond. Her official title here is Entomologist, Trainer, and Quality Assurance Manager. She will also be our representative on the Copesan Technical Committee. This position will allow Marisol to actively engage in pest management processes and put her 15 plus years of practical experience to work for you.
Her area of expertise and study is in Entomology with a specialty in Nematology (microscopic roundworms). She has most recently worked on research and implementation of practices to avoid insect vectored diseases in tomatoes. She has also previously worked as a junior researcher on a project that aimed at managing above and belowground pests of green onions; as well as assisting in gathering information to compile a Banana pest and disease IPM guidebook for Hawaii and the Pacific region. And the list goes on and on.
Marisol is associated with several professional societies including: The Hawaiian Entomological Society 2014-2015; The Society of Nematologists, 2003-2015; The Entomological Society of America, 2008-2015; and the Organization of Nematologists of Tropical America, 2005-2015 to name a few.
